Our medieval Christmas

This year we're spending Christmas time in Gubbio. It's a medieval town in middle Italy that clambers up the side of a mountain. It is famous for an episode in Saint Francis of Assisi's life, where he tamed a wild and dangerous wolf. Walking through these streets is like making a travel back in time. I'm always expecting princesses and knights to come out from a house... but they never appear, after all.

These narrow doors are typical of Gubbio and are called "The dead door", because once they thought that people used them to bring the dead out of the houses. But they have no reason to believe this story to be true.
