Our medieval Christmas
This year we're spending Christmas time in Gubbio. It's a medieval town in middle Italy that clambers up the side of a mountain. It is famous for an episode in Saint Francis of Assisi's life, where he tamed a wild and dangerous wolf. Walking through these streets is like making a travel back in time. I'm always expecting princesses and knights to come out from a house... but they never appear, after all.

Memoirs
One of the very first things I ever published (a short story, in 1992) on Fun Press, the British Council of Naples' magazine. Illustrations by Adrienne Harrison.
Pics from Naples
A brief photographic journal of my vacation (in case you're curious about it...)
Before I left, Kara tried to hide in my suitcase. |
Morning star (that tiny yellow dot in the sky...) |
Sunrise glory on a typical neapolitan landscape. |
Here comes the sun... |
The baroque church of Gesù Nuovo, built between 1584 and 1725. |
A votive altar dedicated to Maradona, a real hero for local people. |
Toledo Street subway station: the most beautiful in Europe, they say... |
Christmas treats and sweets |
Beautiful stray cats. |
Every year famous characters are introduced in the traditional neapolitan presepio (crèche or nativity scene). This is Lady Gaga... |

Letter to Santa
If Gigi could write Santa Claus, this is what he'd ask him...
Well, perhaps he'd add a third tuna fish ;-)

Leaving is so sad
I live in Milan, but I come from Naples.
For many a reason, this year I'll spend Christmas time with my family, while my cats and my sweetheart will stay here at home together.
So this morning I have to leave.
But it's so, so sad having to leave them here and spend Christmas time without them...
I really wish they could come with me :-(

Blindfold
Honestly, I can really tell Kara from Jazz or Jazz from Gigi blindfold.
First of all, they have different voices. Kara chirps and squeaks, while Jazz bleats and Gigi meows.
Then they have different sizes and weights: Kara is very light, Gigi is very heavy and Jazz is just in the middle.
They purr differently, and their fur feel different under my fingers.
Yet sometimes I can make mistakes..
